1.2 Connection to Other Plans

The Regional Plan is a long-term strategic plan that will be implemented through each municipality’s planning strategies.

Other plans of the East Iceland Association of Local Authorities (SSA) and individual municipalities in the region will also play an important role in implementing the strategy. This includes the action plan and the destination plan, as well as the municipalities’ operational and financial plans, which span three to five years at a time and can be used to prioritize the Regional Plan’s objectives at any given time.

Regional and municipal policy documents on issues such as the environment, culture, tourism, family, and employment are also intended to implement the Regional Plan’s strategy.

When reviewing existing policy documents and creating new ones, the strategy should be taken into account.

An action plan will be developed, summarizing the objectives that require implementation through master and detailed plans, and identifying responsible parties for other objectives, including those requiring implementation through state plans. For more information on the implementation of the Regional Plan, see Chapter 7.0.
